Folklore From the South Sumatra "The Bitter Tongue"

The story of a prince of the region named Serunting Sumidang. Children named Princess Grace giant offspring, the dikhabarkan clashed with his in-laws named Aria Cliff. Because of this hostility is a sense of envy towards Aria Serunting Tebing.Dikisahkan, they have the adjoining paddy fields separated by trees.

Under the trees it grows mold. Fungus Aria overlooking fields towards the cliffs grow into gold metal. While overlooking the fields Serunting mushrooms grow into plants that are not useful. The spat was, on one day has turned into a brawl.

Realizing that Serunting more powerful, Arya Cliff stop fighting it. He tried to find another way to defeat his opponent. He persuaded his brother (wife of Serunting) to tell him the secret of his supernatural powers Serunting. According to his brother Aria Cliff, supernatural power of Serunting located on the vibrating reeds plants (although not in the wind).

Feeling betrayed by his wife, he went wandering. Serunting go to Mount Siguntang imprisoned. By Hyang Mahameru, he promised magical powers. Condition is that he should be imprisoned under the bamboo tree until the entire body is covered by a bamboo leaf. After nearly two years of meditation, the leaves were already covered the entire body. As promised, he finally accepted the supernatural forces.

Magic it is that sentence or saying anything that comes out of his mouth would turn into a curse. So he was given the nickname of the Bitter Tongue. He intends to return to his native region Sumidang. On the way home that he was testing its miracle. Ditepian Lake Ranau, met humble cane trees that have yellowed. The Bitter Tongue said, "Be a stone." So true, the plant was turned into stone. Onwards, he also condemns every person whom he met on the banks of the River to become the rock of Jambi.
